Let Go Of The Past and Be Happy
Do you feel stuck, like you are going nowhere? You’re not happy and you don’t know why. That could be because you are stuck in the past instead of the present. When you’re stuck in the past, it’s hard to be happy. Here’s how to ditch your past, and live a happier life!
Let Your Emotions Flow
Let those emotions come out. Acknowledge that you have them. It’s okay to cry or be angry. Bottling up your emotions is the worst thing you can do. Let the tears flow. Scream if you have to, but get those emotions out until you feel them fade away.
Stop Ruminating
When you go over past experiences that were hurtful again and again, You are clouding your minds. When you dwell on the past, those negative thoughts stay in your head and keep you from being happy. When you keep negative thoughts in your head, you can’t see any of the positive things happening in your life.
When you start dwelling on the past, steer your mind a different direction and think about what you learned from the experience. You might be surprised when you start thinking about some good things that came out of a bad experience. You might even find you are in a better place now.
Don’t Be a Victim
When you believe you’re a victim your mind stays on past traumas. You start doubting yourself and feel like nothing in your life goes right. Remember that you are control of your fate. Just because something went wrong before, doesn’t mean it will now. You are in charge of your life, don’t be a victim!
Forgiveness
You most likely will not get an apology from the person who wronged you. When you wait for an apology, you get stuck in the past and it doesn’t do you any good. Your best course of action is to forgive, even you feel wronged.
Your focus should be on moving forward, not staying stuck in the past. When you forgive, it allows you to move forward and be happy. Maya Angelou said “It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, to forgive. Forgive everybody.”
Let The Past Go
You will never be happy until you make a conscious decision to let the past go. Letting go of the past is a choice. You will never be happy until you tell yourself you are done thinking about the past and how you were hurt.
Take a piece of paper and write down events in the past that hurt you or made you feel like a failure. Then take the piece of paper, crumple it up and say “You no longer have power over me!” and throw the paper in the trash. If you have a fireplace, burn it and watch it go up in flames. You’ll find you feel relieved because you’ve released a burden.
When you get stuck in the past, you sabotage your happiness. By consciously taking steps to let the past go, you can focus on the present and look towards the future. By taking control of your own life, you are empowered to not be a victim, but a winner!
