We all mean well when it comes to saving money, I know I did. I told myself I will start saving money once I get to a certain age, or when I get that job. It was always, when I get to….!
But in reality, you’ll only start saving money when we change our thoughts about money and acknowledge our behaviors around it. It seems like we wait till we are in a pickle, before we think about our future or till our future gets here, and we are like yikes, how did I get to this age, and have nothing to really show for it, except a lot of stuff that I don’t even use. Yup, been there, done that.
A lot of times, our goal to save money isn’t big enough to delay those wants like the newest phone, or car, or that bright blue sweater that makes you look thinner, but ends up in the closet along with 3 other sweaters, that look amazingly similar.
Well don’t give up, you can change those behaviors, with just a few minor adjustments! But YOU do need to be willing to change your mindset behaviors towards money. Are you ready?
You can start with baby steps, the big step being acknowledging where you are with how much money you make, and how much you owe, YES you must open up the bills.
Here are a few tips to put you on the right track
- Acknowledge where you are in the process, write down everything you owe
- Change your mindset from “depriving yourself” of things, to I “Get to” save towards the future.
- Understand the difference between “Wants” and “Needs”
- Don’t beat yourself up because of past mistakes, YOU are starting fresh right now!
These few tips are a great start to better behaviors, with regards to your money. Having peace of mind is the end result, along with a positive bank account, that makes you smile. For more money tips click here.
