As a spiritual person, I believe in karma, that there are lessons learned and that life has a way of correcting our wrongs, Is this one of those times? Is someone or something trying to get our attention? To stand up and take notice? Is someone telling us to take our head out of the sand and smell the roses? Did we have to be brought to our knees to begin to listen?
The Universe or God, depending on what you believe in has a way of stopping us in our tracks. Especially when our ego gets a little bigger than it should. My dad use to say.”Patricia, I think you’re getting a little too big for your britches.” meaning, I might be getting a bit conceited and overly self-confident…I hear him saying that now…as I sit on my boat, quarantined from going anywhere except to the store. I ponder these questions, was the world becoming too complacent, too greedy, to into themselves, especially with social media today, and not caring enough for our world, and for our fellow human beings?
This pandemic, that is happening all around the world, is it a correction? Did people get too big-headed and start taking the world for granted, ignoring our earth, becoming greedy, and allowing social media to take over our lives? Has the universe spoken, is God challenging us to be better?
As the world shuts down because of this crisis, I hear of beautiful compassionate acts, of communities coming together, the singing of celebrities. images of hope, and people stepping up every day to help others of all faiths and races in need, with no hesitation. The way it should always be, not just in times of crisis. Is this the universe trying to correct itself, because of our stupidity?
This crisis though shall pass, along with all the other crises that have come before us. But will we learn from this one, will we continue to love our fellow human beings and do the right things to preserve our earth, or will it just become, business as usual, after this is over and a few months have passed?
These are questions we must ask ourselves, along with, What lessons am I learning? How can I grow from this crisis? What can I do to help the world be a better place, and how can I be a better human being?
Yes, we need to stop, reflect and search our souls to find the answers to those questions, If we don’t, we will repeat the same behaviors, which will lead to the same results and the next crisis. But, if we take action, to change the world and continue to be better humans, maybe the universe and or god will smile on us again.
